Hi EE, if you only have one day, you need to make a hard choice. either you go on a road trip to Tamborine Mountain, there are a few smaller national parks and beautiful walks there too, plus lots of things to visit in the village. You would need a whole day and it would be a perfect day tour from the Gold Coast. If you instead want to focus on walking and hiking then go to Binna Burra. There are 24 walks to choose from. Driving from the city of Gold Coast to Tamborine Mountain is relative easy, there are a short stretch which goes a bit steep, but far from difficult, I drove by myself and it was fine.

Thanks for sharing your adventure in the hinterland, they are really useful:) Unfortunately we only have one day to spare in Goldcoast to explore the hinterland, we wonder which national park/area you would suggest visiting? We are also having a dilemma here as to whether we should book a land tour or self drive to Tamborine mountain (for example) , is self driving cumbersome? Thanks again!
