If you like walking in the mountains, the Dolomites in Italy is where to start your hiking adventures. Located in the very North East of Italy, at the border to Austria, the Dolomites stretch across 3 regions: Trentino & South Tyrol with Bolzano, Veneto with Cortina and the southern Dolomites and Friuli Venezia Giulia, with the Eastern Dolomites. Here is why I have picked South Tyrol for my hiking tours in the Dolomites!
South Tyrol has some of the most diverse and beautiful Dolomites landscapes, and the multitude of things to do is just incredible. It's well connected by an efficient bus network, so by public transport, you can get everywhere!
Hiking trails. Next to superb mountain views, the option of short day-hikes to multi-day hikes is hard to beat. This is one of the best regions in Italy for a walking holiday.
Cultural and natural experience this is a top region for hiking but also for a relaxing holiday in the Dolomites. The food is excellent with a rich history, bilingual folks (Italian + German) with traditions that beautifully blend together.
