Yorke Peninsula Beaches South Australia
If you are planning to travel to South Australia and are a beach lover, then the Yorke Peninsula beaches must be on your bucket list. I recently hired a car and went on a road trip to Yorke Peninsula.
I spent 3 days touring this amazing area of South Australia. I got lost driving through the golden fields of cereals, criss-crossing a maze of gravel roads and skirting impressive coastal landscape.
Photo Essay of the Yorke Peninsula Beaches
Here below a photo essay of some of the best Yorke Peninsula beaches. Most of them are from the Innes National Park, one of the most beautiful coastal national parks I have visited in my Solo Adventures in Australia. Here below one of my favourite beaches, Cape West beach.

The Innes National Park and its Beaches
The Innes National Park is huge and you can visit by car. You need to purchase your entrance ticket online. At the park entrance there is a computer cashier too, but it doesn’t always work as it should, so you’d better get your ticket online.
After you get the Innes National Park map, follow the several stops along your way. It takes hours to visit the national park, so plan at least half day, better a whole day. This is Ethel Beach, halfway between Cape Spencer Lighthouse and Cape West Lighthouse.
Chinamans Beach is another great spot for surfing, very popular among experienced surfers.
Yorke Peninsula Southern Coast Beaches
The southern coast of Yorke Peninsula is very isolated. You can reach Leven Beach, about 20 minutes by car from Corny Point Lighthouse, a great spot for killer sunsets. Leven Beach is a very peaceful and completely isolated beach, good for a morning walk or swim.
On the north eastern side of Yorke Peninsula lies Ardrossan a lovely place, popular among families and holiday makers. This place is famous for the blue swimmer crabs and for wading and raking for crabs from the shore or from the boat. You can read about my crabbing exprience here. I loved the colour contrast of this Ardrossan Beach.
On the north western side of Yorke Peninsula you can visit Moonta, a small place located on the coast with heritage buildings and churches. And the beautiful Moonta Jetty with its white-sands beach and turquoise water.
These are just few of the many beautiful Yorke Peninsula beaches that you can check out by touring the area. From Adelaide it’s only 3 hours drive by car, really worth it if you don’t have much time to spend. I can highly recommend it if you are on a solo adventure around South Australia.
