The Best Of Sicily Tour Itinerary
- DAY 1 - Pick up in Catania - Visit of Taormina and transfer to Milazzo
After pick-up at the train station, we travel to Sicily's most picturesque town, Taormina, and visit its Teatro Greco (Greek theatre) with views of the bay and Mount Etna. After a walking tour of the town centre, we have free time for lunch and strolling around. In the afternoon we drive to Milazzo on the northern coast, we check-in at the hotel. We have our welcome dinner. - DAY 2 - A day out at the Eolian Islands: Lipari & Vulcano
Today after breakfast, we have our transfer by ferry to Vulcano and Lipari. We walk up to the Vulcano crater and those who are not hiking, can go for a walk at the beaches. We visit Lipari on a guided walking tour in the afternoon and travel by bus to Cefalù where we check-in, and have free time for dinner. - DAY 3- Guided Walk of Cefalù - Visit of Monreale Cathedral
After a guided walking tour of Cefalù, we have free time for lunch and strolling around its beautiful town centre and early afternoon we travel to the Monreale Cathedral near Palermo where we have a 2-hour guided tour of the cathedral. Late afternoon we check-in at the hotel in Palermo and have dinner together. - DAY 4 - Exploring Palermo Town Centre + Cathedral + Food Market
We go on a morning walking tour of the city with a street food tour of one of its iconic food markets. We have lunch at the market, followed by a guided walking tour of the town centre and visit of the Cathedral. We have free time to enjoy Palermo in the afternoon, with aperitivo time and dinner. - DAY 5 - Visit of San Angelo Muxaro + Valley of the Temples
Today it's a full day of Sicily's heart off-the-beaten path and characteristic village of San Angelo Milano with its picturesque environment settings. We go on guided walk of San Angelo, and stop for 2 local produce tastings and live demonstration (cheese-making). We have home-cooked lunch in a family. Early afternoon we travel to the Valley of Temples, the most significant archaeological site in the world and spend nearly 2-3 hours on a guided exploration of the archeological site. - DAY 6 - Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina + Ragusa Ibla
Today we dive into another Sicily's Unesco world heritage sites: the Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina, a jewel of the ancient Roman time with its beautiful well-preserved mosaics. After 2-hour guided visit we head to Ragusa where we check in at our hotel and visit the town centre with the cathedral and a gelato tasting. - DAY 7 - Walking through the Ispica Caves + Canyon ISPICA + Scicli visit + Sensorial Herbs Experience
Today we get active again and go for an easy to moderate walk across the green canyon between Modica and Ispica. We first have a guided walk of the Ispica ancient caves, typical of this region. easy. We have our lunch with local produce tastings. In the afternoon we have a guided walk of Scicli and a special sensorial experience in a local herbs-farm. - DAY 8 - Visit of Noto + the Neapolis archeological park site in Syracuse
Today we spend time visiting the baroque township of NOTO, another UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon we reach Syracuse and visit the whole Neapolis with its Greek Theatre, and the Ear of Dionysius, a limestone cave carved out of Temenites hill. We check-in at our hotel and have free time for dinner. - DAY 9 - Guided Walking Tour of Ortigia + Farewell Dinner
Today we go on a guided walking tour of Ortigia including the Street Markets. We have lunch with local produce tastings in a local caseificio (cheese factory). Farewell Dinner in Ortigia. - DAY 10 - Transfer to Catania Airport + Railway Station - End Of Tour
After breakfast we have our privare bus transfer to the Catania Airport or Catania Train Station. End of Tour.

Due to the nature of our boutique small group tours, you cannot cancel your tour reservation after paying the initial € 850. Please check our cancellation policy.
The deposit is refunded in full if the tour does not achieve the minimum of 8 participants.
Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended for all tour participants on our tours. You need international travel insurance to cover any potential incidents or injuries that may occur in Italy, as well as flight and tour cancellation due to illness or force majeure. The tour prices are only available in €. To see what's the conversion in your own currency use a site like xe.com. Rates fluctuate and change every day. Your credit card will process the payment in € and convert the debit in your currency.
Flying from the US or from AUS, you will need to land in Rome or Milano and from there take a domestic flight to Catania, Sicily. Alternatively you can also consider Munich airport, or Zurich Airport or London and from there fly into Catania. All of the above EU airports have several daily flights to Catania.
5 dinners, 4 lunches + several tastings are included in the tour price, see details of what's included in the tour price. Other meals are at your charge. The average cost for a meal, at a restaurant in Sicily is between 20-40 Euro.
International and domestic flights to/from Catania are not included in the tour price. We can help providing info and advice about the best flight connections for domestic flights as well as international flight to Italy.
We stay in beautiful locations, all 4 stars hotels, swimming pool too. In Milazzo, in Cefalu, in Palermo, in Agrigento, in Ragusa, and in Siracusa. Some of them have swimming pools and/or wellness/SPA. You get full hotels details including website links in the PDF tour brochure when you sign up for the tour.
While we prioritise women on this tour, this is not a women-only tour! Our Best of Sicily Trip is open to all fit and active travellers, aged 45-65+. A small number of men (2-3 max) are accepted.
Yes, there are also optional walks, however you must be able to walk comfortably in nature on uneven surfaces, with stones, and small rocks.
We will walk for an average of about 3-7 km per day. This includes walking in towns, sightseeing, walking and food tours, visiting archeological sites, and in the outdoors.

The tour takes you on a wonderful journey through Sicily. And the whole experience has been incredible. There was a fair amount of walking, for me it was achievable and I think for most over 50 years old would be achievable. You don't have to do all walks, there are good options available. The food was out of this world, always served with wine. We also tasted some of the gorgeous Sicilian wines. A lot of the meals were included, which was great value. This tour is for a small number which is what I love, in a comfortable bus. We had a great driver, a great tour guide, and I would give this tour a ten out of ten. I highly recommend it to anyone, any lady who wants to experience the flavours of Sicily and amazing sights.

It was my first solo women's tour, and I found it to be very interesting, exceeding my expectations. I loved Sicily and was captivated by its beauty and vitality. This Sicily small-group tour is an ideal introduction to Sicily's many and varied attractions, ranging from architecture to food to archaeology. Zoom calls beforehand meant I already knew the other participants when it started. The meals were an excellent introduction to Sicilian cuisine. The tour guide was outstanding, and her local knowledge gave us valuable insights into many aspects of Sicilian culture, history and food. Poor weather meant some of the attractions were closed. My friend and I traveled with Michela on the Best of Sicily Tour in May-June of 2019 and what an awesome trip it was! We had not been to Sicily before and this trip showcased the beautiful island in a wonderful way. I felt like we were truly off the beaten path with the excursions and destinations. There were many delightful experiences and one of my favorites was the visit to the small town of Sant' Angelo Muxaro near Agrigento. We explored this charming town of about 1,200 people and then had lunch with a local family. The lunch was outstanding and the family was so welcoming. A lot of what we ate came right from their garden and it was delicious. Another favorite was our visit to the Villa Romana del Casale where we saw beautiful mosaic tiles Michela was great, very responsive before and during the trip. I would highly recommend this Sicily Tour and loved the fact that it was a small group tour of 10 people, many of whom were seasoned, active hikers and walkers. A perfect vacation!
